The Fiber Optic Field Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and supporting fiber optic network infrastructure. The role involves hands-on fieldwork, including fiber splicing, customer-premise installations, fault diagnosis, and maintenance of last-mile infrastructure. The technician will help ensure reliable network connectivity while observing required technical and safety standards

Responsibilities

• Support fiber network rollout and expansion.
• Perform FTTH/FTTB installations and fiber splicing.
• Troubleshoot signal loss and service interruptions.
• Carry out fiber installations at customer premises.
• Maintain and repair last-mile network infrastructure.
• Provide on-site technical support to customers.
• Use fiber testing and diagnostic equipment to identify network faults.
• Follow required health, safety, and PPE procedures during field operations.
• Ensure installations and repairs meet required technical and quality standards

Qualifications

• Diploma/Certificate in ICT, Telecommunications, or Networking
• Proficiency in fiber splicing - fusion & mechanical
• OTDR, power meter, visual fault locator
• PON technology
• Safety standards - PPE use, pole handling certification
• First aid, fire & safety training, physical fitness
• Valid driving or motobike license an advantage
• 1-2 years hands-on field experience
